Heather Cohen, PhD

Dr Cohen joined Create Medicines in December 2024 as our Vice President of Precision Medicine and Biomarkers. She brings more than 20 years of research and development experience to Create Medicines, including over a decade in the biopharma industry, with a focus on leadership of developing and executing innovative clinical biomarker, patient selection, and reverse translational strategies to advance development assets.

Prior to joining Create Medicines, she was Senior Director of Translational Sciences at Bicycle Therapeutics, where she oversaw clinical biomarker plans supporting the oncology portfolio of targeted therapies and led the Biomarker Assay & Development team. She was also previously at Jounce Therapeutics and EMD Serono, where she held roles with increasing levels of responsibility developing macrophage and T cell-targeting immuno-oncology assets from target discovery through clinical proof of concept. Dr Cohen has worked on multiple successful IND submissions and clinical protocols across the globe and has published over 25 abstracts and publications.

She holds a BS from the University of Minnesota in genetics, cell, and developmental biology and a PhD in cell biology and genetics, with a focus in immunology, from the University of Maryland, where she studied the development of immunosuppressive macrophages in infectious and inflammatory diseases.
